Located between Mons and Tournai, less than 75 kilometers from Lille, the Golf du Mont Garni is the work of a golf enthusiast, Roger van der Schueren, who decided to establish his private estate on a different golf course.
Initially, this plan shouldn't count more than three private holes, to satisfy his personal passion. But soon the three private holes became 6, 9 and then 18 holes open to all.
Designed by renowned architects Tom McAuley - then President of the Association of Architects of Golf in Britain - and Jean-Noel Capart, Belgian landscape architect, the course of Mont Garni was designed in three loops of 6 holes on 65 hectares of land around a large clubhouse with Anglo-Norman style. The game offers a journey between plains and wood to finish the 18th hole on a green well protected by water that leaves no room for chance. From all accounts, this term is unambiguously to the British school: The natural scenery is fulfilled with the exception of some difficulties furnished by the hand of man in order to test the capabilities of golf contemporary player.
Today it is Eric van der Schueren, his son, who presides over the destiny of the trail BAUDOUROIS. Boasting a dozen people to a membership of around 550, the Golf du Mont Garni has always wanted to go golfing the "ghetto" in which he sankn, breaking the elitist image of the sport and making it accessible to all . This aggressive policy has, in fifteen years, helped many people discover the joys and frustrations of a "sport for all".
